South African Indian Roti

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • It requires only 2 main ingredients - flour and butter

  • The roti pairs perfectly with any veggie or meat curry (or as a snack on their own!)

  • The recipe is authentically South African Indian

Suggested Modifications

  • Make it diary-free and vegan by substituting the butter with a plant-based option

  • Pan frying is the long pole, and can leave the raw dough to dry up in the meantime. Place a damp cloth over the dough to keep it moist.

  • If you don't have a rolling pin, just use any firm cylinder around the house (I used a tall metal water bottle)
